The Presidency of Religious Affairs has published its “2015 Performance Program”. The program plans to spend a total sum of 4 million TL within the scope of activities to prevent “corruption of morality”.
According to the report of İklim Öngel in the daily Cumhuriyet, the program prepared by the Presidency of Religious Affairs includes the presentation of 27 thousand sermons and 600 conferences on the subject, and the writing of novels and articles aimed at younger members of society.
The Presidency of Religious Affairs stands out with its budget that surpasses those of many ministries. Additional spending of 8,5 million TL towards “increasing staff efficiency” and 3,5 million TL towards playing a more active role in the solution of social problems are also included in the budget.
The program of Presidency of Religious Affairs has announced 90 thousand sermons, 4 publications, 120 articles and the organization of 100 programs for the year 2015.
Official car dispute
The budget of the Presidency of Religious Affairs had recently become the source of dispute over President Mehmet Görmez’s official car worth 1 million TL. Following public uproar, the Presidency of Religious Affairs made a statement declaring the cost of the vehicle as 322 thousand TL. Görmez later announced that he would return the vehicle.
