“I can’t say that Armenians find it easier to listen to my music, but yes, there is a different situation regarding Armenians. It is natural for them to listen to Armenian melodies, because they feel close. Nevertheless, there are some who do not approve of my new interpretations of traditional melodies. They are the ones who have not followed the development of modern music. People whose coolest experience with music is Pink Floyd come to my concerts, too. They have no idea what happened after Pink Floyd. These people relate to my music via Armenian identity, and outside Armenia, the situation is the exact opposite.”
