Novelist and editorial consultant of the closed Özgür Gündem newspaper Aslı Erdoğan has been under arrest and the objection to her arrest is overruled.

Court of Peace has overruled the objection to arrest of Aslı
Erdoğan, who is a novelist and editorial consultant of Özgür
Gündem newspaper, which was temporarily closed down by Istanbul 8th
Court of Peace.
Erdoğan was accused of “making propaganda for a terrorist organization” and “provocation”, and then she was arrested on charge of “being a member of an armed terrorist organization”.
Erdoğan's lawyers objected to the arrest and the court overruled this objection on the ground that “the release would be inconvenient in terms of the security of the investigation”.
Erdoğan's lawyers will appeal to the Constitutional Court.
