Belgian Federal Prosecutor declared that the explosions at Zaventem Airport in Brussels were suicide attacks.
Two explosions took place in the main hall of Zaventem airport at about 8 am. local time (7 am. GMT). About 1 hour later, a third explosion took place in Maelbeek metro station.
It is stated that 13 people were killed and 35 people were injured in the explosions at the airport. In the attack on the subway station, 15 people were killed and 55 people were injured.

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel made a statement after the attack and said, “What we feared has happened.”
Stating that it is early to give information about death toll, the prime minister said that plenty of people were killed and injured. He also urge people to stay calm and act in solidarity.
Guardian: 15 people were killed on the subway station
According to Guardian's report, Belgian subway authority La Stib stated that 15 people were killed on the subway station. According to unofficial information, 28 people were killed in 3 explosions.
Europe on full alert
Belgium has now raised its terror threat to its highest level.
According to German news agency DPA's report, the session of European Parliament that was planned to be held in Brussels is also canceled.
The borders of France and Belgium are sealed.
Security measure are tightened in Gatwick Airport in London.
The attacks came four days after Salah Abdeslam, the main fugitive in the Paris attacks, was seized in Brussels. It was reported that, during his interrogation, Abdeslam stated that they had been making preparations for an attack in Belgium.
