Former General Directorate of Security Intelligence Agency Director Ramazan Akyürek, detained within the scope of the Hrant Dink murder investigation, arrested.
Akyürek arrested following former Istanbul Security Directorate Intelligence Branch Head Ahmet İlhan Güler’s statement and on the basis of the claim that he had ‘intentionally concealed information in order to evade responsibility’. Güler had accused Ramazan Akyürek of concealing intelligence.
After having served as Trabzon Provincial Security Director from 2003 to 2006, Akyürek had been appointed General Directorate of Security Intelligence Agency Director and had remained in office until 2009. Akyürek is accused of “negligence” on the basis of the claim that he had intelligence on the assassination plan both during his term as Trabzon Provincial Security Director and his term as General Directorate of Security Intelligence Agency Director, but did not report on this intelligence.
