A group of people from different circles of Armenian society gathered in front of the Patriarchate and demand a patriarchal election, which couldn’t have been done for 8 years. The group placed a black wreath on the door.
Armenians in Turkey gathered in front of the Patriarchate and demand a patriarchal election, which couldn’t have been done for 8 years. The slogan of the protest was “We want to elect our patriarch” and 30 people from different circles of the Armenian society, including foundation chairs, attended the protest.
The press statement was as the following: “Our right to vote is violated by meaningless excuses and we don’t accept that. Armenians in Turkey didn’t and won’t resign their future to any proxy. The patriarch should be elected by popular vote pursuant to our ancient traditions.”
