The “Lights,” announced alongside the International Hrant Dink Award, honored in 2026 people in Turkey and around the world who, through their actions, have shed “light” on humanity, while people and communities that inspire hope were greeted with applause.

The International Hrant Dink Award will be presented for the 18th time this year on September 15, Hrant Dink’s birthday, continuing its annual tradition of honoring individuals and organizations working toward a more just and peaceful world.

This year, 8th Hrant Dink Award is granted to Diyarbakir Bar Association, one of the prominent institutions struggling for human rights in Turkey, and Malawian activist Theresa Kachindamoto, who tries to prevent child marriage in her country, defending children's right to education.

Since 2009, the International Hrant Dink Award has been given in memory of Hrant Dink, who was born on September 15, 1954. This year, the award will be given for the 8th time.
