Historic referendum in Turkey: narrow win for “yes”
The constitutional referendum was held in Turkey yesterday. Yes campaign won 51.41% of the votes, while No got 48.59%. Turnout was said to around 85%. President Erdoğan declared victory last night before the official results.
Leaders summit without HDP in presidential palace
CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli will be hosted in presidential palace for the first time. President Erdoğan hasn't invited HDP to the meeting where the leaders of political parties will come together.
Paylan: in order to defend our supporters' will, we won't go to court
HDP Istanbul MP Garo Paylan assessed the voting that clears the way for lifting the parliamentary immunity. Saying that he considers CHP's attitude as “falling prey to AKP”, Paylan said: “In order to defend our supporters' will, we won't go to the courts which this oppressive law commands us to go.”
Kılıçdaroğlu on Perinçek’s side
CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made a statement regarding Doğu Perinçek’s case at the European Court of Human Rights: “We do not find it right that Mr. Perinçek is being tried for a thought he expressed. We must stand united for freedom of thought. All the modern world should.”
