Syrian Armenian journalist Kevork Almassian: "In Kessab, a town historically home to a vibrant Armenian population, the community has largely fled, fearing a fate similar to that of Alawites in neighbouring areas."

Detained on February 14, Die Welt Turkey correspondent Deniz Yücel is arrested last night on the charge of “propagating for a terrorist organization and inciting hatred and enmity among people”. German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that the arrest is disproportionately harsh and disappointing.

Speaking to Agos, Selina Doğan said, “The police said that the passports of almost all journalists have been canceled after July 15 as a precaution.”

Journalist and writer Nuh Köklü became the target of a knife attack while playing snowball with his friends in Kadıköy, Istanbul. Köklü passed away at the Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital where he was taken.

Arrested and then released last month in Diyarbakır, Dutch journalist Frederike Geerdink has been charged with ‘propaganda for a terrorist organisation’ and faces a sentence from 1 to 5 years if found guilty.
